Mavericks Conquer Knights 103-94 Behind Dixon's Firepower and Stellar Ball Movement
Dixon Leads Miami Surge, Knights Fall Despite Strong Rebounding Effort

NEW YORK – The Miami Mavericks weathered a late surge from the New York Knights, ultimately securing a hard-fought 103-94 victory at Madison Square Garden. Despite a considerable rebounding advantage for the home team, the Mavericks’ exceptional ball security and clutch scoring in the final quarter proved decisive, handing the Knights a disappointing loss in front of their home crowd.
The intensity was palpable from the tip-off, with both teams trading blows throughout the first half. The Knights, bolstered by a roaring crowd, found early success with sharp shooting from beyond the arc, notably from Sofia Clemente, who knocked down two crucial threes. Casper Jorgensen provided a strong offensive presence for New York, pouring in 19 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. However, Miami consistently found answers, with Elara Dixon emerging as a primary threat.
Dixon was instrumental in keeping the Mavericks within striking distance, finishing with a game-high 19 points. Her aggressive drives and timely buckets, coupled with the Mavericks’ remarkably low turnover count, began to wear down the Knights in the latter stages. While New York’s defense managed to force some turnovers, particularly with Anya Kuznetsova’s two steals, they struggled to convert those opportunities into sustained runs.
The fourth quarter saw the Mavericks elevate their game. A key field goal by Kai Blackwood and a string of successful free throws helped Miami build a critical lead. Despite strong efforts from Stella Dupont and Eva Costa, who added 13 points each for the Knights, the Mavericks’ cohesive offense, highlighted by an astounding 27 assists to just 4 turnovers, was too much to overcome. Isabella Kim’s dominant rebounding performance, pulling down 15 boards, also provided Miami with crucial second-chance opportunities.
“We knew they’d come out strong at home,” said Mavericks Head Coach, Coach Davies. “Our focus all week was on maintaining composure and valuing every possession. Tonight, the guys really executed that plan, especially in the critical moments.”
Casper Jorgensen of the Knights acknowledged the team’s effort. “We left it all out there. We battled on the boards, but they made plays when it mattered most. We’ll learn from this and come back stronger.”
