PORTLAND – The Portland Lumberjacks put on an offensive clinic, overpowering the Toronto Titans with a blistering 117-97 victory at the Moda Center. After a competitive first half, Portland exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Toronto 38-19, to seize control of the game and secure a crucial Pro League win.
The game began as a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading buckets. However, the Lumberjacks’ superior shooting efficiency and relentless offensive pace began to wear down the Titans. The turning point came in the second quarter when Portland’s defense, anchored by a strong inside presence from Florian Richter (2 blocks) and Adam Petrov (3 blocks), started to stifle Toronto’s attack.
Lily Wong was the catalyst for Portland’s scoring surge, pouring in a game-high 22 points and dishing out 4 assists. Kian Maxwell proved a dynamic complement, adding 21 points of his own, while Jaxon Price chipped in 16. The Lumberjacks’ ball movement was exceptional, with 27 assists on 41 made field goals, showcasing their cohesive offensive unit.
“We knew we had to execute and play our game,” said Lumberjacks guard Lily Wong. “Once we started hitting shots and sharing the ball, the momentum just shifted our way. It felt great to play like that in front of our home crowd.”
The Titans struggled to find a consistent rhythm, hampered by 13 turnovers and a dismal 28.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Ronan Schmidt led Toronto with 13 points and 6 rebounds, while Lena Eriksson added 15 points.
“We just couldn’t match their intensity in the second half,” admitted Titans forward Chiara Heredia. “They got hot, and we didn’t have an answer. We need to learn from this and come back stronger.”
