BERLIN – The Berlin Bears unleashed a dominant second-half performance to secure a convincing 117-94 victory over the Chicago Wolves in Pro League action Tuesday night. After a tight first half, the Bears found their rhythm, capitalizing on strong ball movement and stifling defense to pull away and extend their winning streak.
The game started as a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading baskets. However, a pivotal moment came late in the second quarter when the Bears’ defense intensified, forcing several key turnovers. Despite a spirited effort from the Wolves, led by Takeshi Yamamoto, Berlin’s offensive efficiency began to shine through.
In the third quarter, the Bears exploded for 35 points, fueled by a mix of sharp shooting and relentless offensive rebounding. Anya Lindgren led the charge with a game-high 20 points, while point guard Kun Zhang orchestrated the offense with a stellar 17 points and 6 assists. Quentin Ford also made a significant impact, nearly recording a double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds, including a crucial three-pointer that ignited the scoring run.
“We talked at halftime about locking in defensively and trusting our offense to flow,” said Bears head coach Anya Petrova. “The team responded brilliantly. Everyone contributed, and that’s what makes us special.”
The Wolves struggled to contain the Bears’ multiple scoring threats, as six different players reached double figures for Berlin. While Julian Santos and Takeshi Yamamoto put up solid numbers for Chicago, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Bears’ sustained offensive pressure and improved defensive intensity, which saw them rack up 8 blocks.
“It was a tough night. We had a good start, but Berlin just turned up the heat,” admitted Wolves guard Jett Alcantara. “We need to learn from this and come back stronger.”
