Berlin Bears Power Through Rome Centurions 113-104 Behind Petrova's 30-Point Barrage
Petrova Leads Bears' Offensive Surge in Road Victory

BERLIN – The Berlin Bears survived a back-and-forth Pro League contest, ultimately outlasting the Rome Centurions 113-104 on the road. A fierce offensive display, particularly from Anya Petrova, proved to be the difference as the Bears secured a crucial win to climb the standings.
The game was a high-octane affair from the opening tip, with both teams trading blows. The Centurions, fueled by a strong rebounding effort and Maya Dubois’s dynamic play, managed to keep pace for much of the first half. Dubois was instrumental in orchestrating the Rome offense, demonstrating her all-around impact.
However, the Bears’ relentless pressure and a career-defining performance from Anya Petrova began to tilt the momentum in the second half. Petrova, who finished with a game-high 30 points, ignited an offensive explosion, hitting clutch shots and driving the Bears’ attack. Her sharp shooting from beyond the arc, including a pivotal three-pointer late in the third quarter, began to create separation.
“We knew this was going to be a tough road game,” said Bears’ coach, Stefan Schmidt. “Rome is a gritty team, but our guys really stepped up. Anya was sensational tonight, she carried us when we needed it most.”
The Centurions fought valiantly, with Elian Foster contributing 14 points and Dubois adding 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Despite their efforts and a dominant rebounding advantage, 58-64, Rome struggled with their shooting efficiency, particularly from the free-throw line (50%).
“We left a lot of points out there,” lamented Centurions’ captain, Maya Dubois. “We had good looks, we got good rebounds, but we just couldn’t convert consistently. Credit to Berlin, they capitalized on our mistakes.”
The Bears, meanwhile, found scoring from multiple sources. Anya Lindgren chipped in 18 points, while Kai Petersen and Quentin Ford added 11 points each, with Ford also grabbing 10 rebounds. The Bears’ ability to draw fouls and convert their free throws (71.4%) proved to be a decisive factor in the closing minutes.
