Bears Dominate Miami on the Road, Clinch Victory with Second-Half Surge
Zhang's 32 Points Lead Berlin's Offensive Barrage in Dominant Win Over Mavericks
MIAMI – The Berlin Bears unleashed a relentless offensive storm against the Miami Mavericks, securing a resounding 117-93 victory at the FTX Arena. After a tightly contested first half, Berlin exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Miami 35-19 to seize control of the game and never looked back, extending their winning streak in World Pro League Season 2.
The Mavericks struggled to contain the Bears’ sharp shooting throughout the night, particularly from beyond the arc, where Berlin connected on an impressive 17-of-36 attempts. While Miami battled hard on the boards, tallying 49 rebounds, their 35.8% shooting efficiency ultimately proved insurmountable.
The game remained close through the first quarter, with both teams trading blows. However, Berlin began to find their rhythm leading into halftime, and the third quarter was where they truly separated themselves. A barrage of three-pointers and crisp ball movement, resulting in 31 assists for the game, overwhelmed the Miami defense.
Leading the charge for the Bears was Kun Zhang, who put on an offensive clinic, pouring in a game-high 32 points on efficient 51.2% shooting from the field, to go along with 5 assists. Anya Lindgren provided crucial support, adding 18 points and 4 assists. For the Mavericks, Elara Dixon fought valiantly, finishing with 18 points and 4 rebounds.
“We knew they were going to come out ready to play at home,” said Bears Head Coach Lars Svensson. “But our guys stuck to the game plan and executed when it mattered most. That third quarter was special.” Mia Mavericks coach, Sarah Jenkins, acknowledged the challenge. “They shot the ball incredibly well tonight, and credit to them. We need to learn from this and regroup for our next matchup.”
