Aviators Soar Past Centurions 119-105; Petrov's Triple-Double Leads the Charge
Petrov's Masterclass Lifts Atlanta Past Rome
ROME – The Atlanta Aviators solidified their playoff aspirations with a commanding 119-105 victory over the Rome Centurions on Sunday night. The Aviators, fueled by a historic triple-double from Adrik Petrov, consistently applied offensive pressure and capitalized on crucial turnovers to secure the road win.
The Centurions, playing in front of a raucous home crowd, started strong, trading blows with the Aviators in a high-octane first quarter. However, Atlanta found its rhythm in the second, and a pivotal run before halftime gave them a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Rome fought valiantly, particularly on the defensive end where they racked up 12 blocks and 12 steals, but the sheer offensive firepower of the Aviators proved too much.
The story of the night, however, was Adrik Petrov. The Aviators’ star point guard orchestrated the offense with precision, finishing with an astounding 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. His ability to find open teammates and control the tempo was instrumental in Atlanta’s success.
“We knew Rome would come out with a lot of energy,” said Aviators Head Coach, Sarah Jenkins. “But our guys stayed composed, and Adrik was simply phenomenal tonight. He does everything for us.”
For Rome, Mateo Delgado was a bright spot, pouring in 18 points and grabbing 7 rebounds, showcasing his all-around game. Elian Foster also chipped in with 10 points and a team-high 8 assists. Despite the loss, the physical play and defensive effort from the Centurions offered glimpses of their potential.
“We gave it our all, but we can’t afford to give up that many easy baskets,” commented Centurions captain, Mikhail Ivanov. “We’ll learn from this and come back stronger in the next game.”
