BOSTON – In a back-and-forth affair that had fans on the edge of their seats, the London Lions snatched a dramatic 115-112 victory over the Boston Breakers at TD Garden, clinching a crucial road win in World Pro League Season 2. The Lions orchestrated a late-game surge, powered by their balanced scoring and timely execution, to overcome a resilient Breakers squad that fought valiantly until the final buzzer.
The game tipped off at a frenetic pace, with both teams exchanging blows in the first half. The Breakers, guided by Sofia Lindgren’s exceptional playmaking, built a lead behind sharp shooting. Lindgren dished out a game-high 10 assists, orchestrating Boston’s offense with precision. However, the Lions’ depth and a relentless attack on the glass kept them within striking distance.
The momentum shifted in the fourth quarter. Chloe Beaumont and Renzo Bianchi ignited the Lions’ offense, combining for 39 points. Cassia Aoki proved to be the unsung hero down the stretch, contributing a vital 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, including a crucial offensive board that led to a go-ahead basket. Freya Lund also made a significant impact with 18 points and 5 assists, including a clutch three-pointer that helped seal the win.
“We knew it was going to be a tough environment,” said Lions Head Coach Anya Sharma. “Boston played incredibly hard. But our guys stayed composed, trusted each other, and executed when it mattered most. Cassia’s effort on the boards was phenomenal.”
Despite a strong effort from Diego Sharma and Sofia Lindgren, who finished with 16 and 12 points respectively for the Breakers, Boston couldn’t find an answer for the Lions’ late-game offensive firepower. “We left it all out there,” commented Breakers forward Ethan Wright. “It stings to lose one like this, especially at home. We’ll learn from it.”
