Wardens' Three-Point Barrage Silences Olympians, 115-94, in Pro League Clash
Washington's Stellar Shooting Overwhelms Athens; Bakari and Albright Lead the Charge
ATHENS – The Washington Wardens delivered a clinic in offensive efficiency, particularly from beyond the arc, cruising to a dominant 115-94 victory over the Athens Olympians Wednesday night at the Acropolis Arena. The game, a crucial Pro League matchup, saw the Wardens connect on an impressive 21 three-pointers, stifling any momentum the Olympians tried to build.
The Olympians, playing on their home court, struggled to find their rhythm from the outset. Despite a valiant effort from Chloe Lee, who poured in a game-high 30 points, Athens couldn’t match Washington’s scorching offensive output. The Wardens’ three-point precision was a constant thorn in the Olympians’ side, with Zoe Albright and Aisha Bakari leading the charge.
The first half saw flashes of competitiveness, with Priya Vance contributing 14 points and several key steals for Athens. However, Washington consistently answered. A pivotal stretch in the second quarter saw the Wardens string together multiple made field goals and key steals from Kenji Sato and Aisha Bakari, creating separation.
Washington’s lead ballooned in the second half, fueled by a barrage of three-pointers. Zoe Albright drained a crucial triple that visibly deflated the home crowd, and Aisha Bakari continued to be a force, finishing with 26 points. The Olympians’ shooting woes were evident, as they managed just 26.8% from deep on 41 attempts.
“We didn’t have our best shooting night, and credit to Washington, they were lights out,” said Olympians Head Coach Eleni Papadopoulos. “We need to regroup and find our consistency.”
Aisha Bakari, when asked about the team’s shooting, commented, “We have players who can get hot, and tonight, several of us did. We focused on moving the ball and finding the open man, and the shots fell.”
