Olympians Dominate Gladiators 100-80 Behind Lee's Double-Double
Lee's Dominance on Boards Fuels Olympians' Decisive Victory
ATHENS – The Athens Olympians delivered a commanding performance on their home court Tuesday night, dispatching the Barcelona Gladiators 100-80 in a crucial World Pro League matchup. A stifling defensive effort and balanced offensive attack secured the win for Athens, extending their winning streak and solidifying their position in the league standings.
The game remained tight through the first quarter, with both teams exchanging baskets. However, the Olympians began to pull away in the second, anchored by an exceptional performance from Chloe Lee. Lee’s relentless presence on the boards and timely defensive plays shifted momentum firmly in Athens’ favor. The Gladiators struggled to find their offensive rhythm, hampered by missed shots and a determined Olympians defense that forced numerous turnovers.
Lee was the undisputed star of the night, finishing with a spectacular 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, adding 3 crucial steals and 2 blocks. Priya Vance also contributed significantly with 17 points, while Sofia Andersen orchestrated the offense with 6 assists. For Barcelona, Maximo Suarez put up a valiant effort with 17 points and 9 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Olympians’ cohesive unit.
“We knew this was a big game, and the energy from our crowd was incredible tonight,” said Olympians Head Coach Dimitris Papadopoulos. “Chloe was phenomenal, but this was a true team win. Everyone contributed.”
“We got outplayed tonight,” admitted Gladiators forward Maximo Suarez. “We have to learn from this and come back stronger.”
