Wong Drops 34 in Wild Finish as Lumberjacks Edge Breakers 93-90
Wong's Scoring Spree Lifts Portland to Nail-Biting Road Victory
PORTLAND – The Portland Lumberjacks pulled off a dramatic road win against the Boston Breakers, snatching a 93-90 victory in World Pro League action in December 2025. The game was a back-and-forth affair, characterized by sluggish shooting from both sides but ultimately decided by a clutch offensive performance.
The Breakers held a narrow lead for much of the contest, with Nala Diallo leading the charge with 20 points. However, the Lumberjacks found their spark in the second half, primarily through the sensational scoring of Lily Wong. Wong erupted for a game-high 34 points, including several crucial baskets in the closing minutes that swung the momentum.
A key turning point came in the fourth quarter when a string of missed shots by Boston allowed Portland to chip away at the deficit. Diego Sharma of the Breakers had a tough offensive night, but he managed to make a crucial field goal and was also involved in a blocked shot attempt that could have tied the game.
“We just kept fighting,” said Lumberjacks coach Markus Jensen. “Lily was incredible tonight. She took over when we needed her most. This was a gritty win on the road.”
For the Breakers, the loss was a tough pill to swallow, especially after leading for significant stretches. “We didn’t execute down the stretch,” admitted Breakers guard Elena Sokolova, who added 16 points. “We had opportunities, but they made big shots, and we didn’t.”
Despite poor shooting percentages across the board, the Lumberjacks capitalized on free throws and offensive rebounds to stay in the game. Wong’s barrage ultimately proved to be the difference, silencing the home crowd and securing a vital win for Portland.
