Vipers Strike Early, Cruise Past Surfers 105-81 Behind Sterling Shooting
LA's Three-Point Barrage Too Much for Sydney; Okada and Jensen Lead the Way
SYDNEY – The Los Angeles Vipers unleashed a potent offensive storm, including a relentless three-point attack, to power past the Sydney Surfers 105-81 in Pro League action. The Vipers’ ability to consistently hit from deep and a dominant rebounding performance proved to be the difference, securing a crucial road victory.
The Vipers established control early, with Kenzo Okada and Luka Jensen spearheading a fast-paced offensive rhythm. Los Angeles connected on an impressive 16 three-pointers, far outpacing the Surfers’ 7, to build a significant lead in the first half. Okada was a maestro, orchestrating the offense and finishing with a game-high 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jensen was equally effective, adding 18 points.
Sydney struggled to find their offensive footing, hampered by a cold shooting night from beyond the arc. Despite efforts from Brennan Cole, who contributed 11 points and 5 assists, and Isla Campbell’s 10 points, the Surfers couldn’t overcome the Vipers’ defensive pressure and explosive scoring.
“We knew they had the potential to shoot us out of the gym, and tonight they did exactly that,” said Surfers coach Mark Thompson. “We didn’t execute our game plan well enough, especially on the defensive end against their perimeter shooters.”
The Vipers’ advantage in the paint was also evident, with a commanding 55-45 rebounding edge, including 16 offensive boards that led to second-chance points. “Our energy was high from the tipoff,” commented Vipers guard Kenzo Okada. “We shared the ball, hit shots, and played with confidence. That’s how we win games.”
