Milan Hawks Surge Past Dallas Drifters Behind Balanced Scoring

MILAN – The Milan Hawks weathered an early storm from the Dallas Drifters and unleashed a powerful second-half performance to secure a 101-88 victory on Saturday, improving their February standings. After a tightly contested first half, the Hawks found their rhythm, outscoring the Drifters 55-38 after halftime to claim a crucial home win.
The Drifters came out with aggressive energy, with Marcus Solberg anchoring their efforts early. However, the Milan Hawks, despite shooting struggles in the first quarter, found consistent scoring from multiple sources, particularly in the second half.
A pivotal moment came in the third quarter when a steal and subsequent fast-break layup by Léa Moreau sparked a run for the Hawks. Moreau, who finished with a team-high 15 points, was instrumental in creating momentum. Dorothea Henderson added 17 points, showcasing her clutch shooting, including a key three-pointer in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach.
“We talked at halftime about staying disciplined and executing our game plan,” said Hawks Head Coach Marco Bianchi. “The team responded beautifully, and our defense really locked down in the second half. Credit to the players for sticking together.”
For the Drifters, Marcus Solberg put up an impressive all-around effort with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Milan’s sustained offensive pressure in the latter stages.
“We had our moments, but we couldn’t sustain it,” commented Drifters point guard Rhys Brennan. “They made adjustments and we didn’t answer the call. We’ll learn from this.”
