Lions Roar Past Aviators 113-98 as Lund's Treys Ignite Second-Half Surge
Lund's Long Bombs Power London Lions Past Atlanta Aviators

LONDON – The London Lions flexed their offensive muscle at home, outlasting the Atlanta Aviators in a high-scoring affair, 113-98. A pivotal third-quarter run, fueled by sharp three-point shooting, proved to be the decisive factor as the Lions improved their Pro League standing.
The Aviators came out with an aggressive offensive tempo, trading baskets for much of the first half. Adrik Petrov and Ben Carter were instrumental for Atlanta, each pouring in 17 points and keeping the Lions’ defense on its toes. Delilah Blake added defensive pressure with four steals, but it wasn’t enough to contain London’s balanced attack.
The complexion of the game dramatically shifted in the third quarter. Freya Lund, who finished with a game-high 16 points, connected on back-to-back triples that sparked a 15-0 run for the Lions. “We knew we had to make a statement,” Lund stated after the game. “Coach told us to trust our shots, and they started falling. That momentum carried us.”
Leo O’Connell also delivered a crucial scoring punch for London, leading all scorers with 18 points. The Lions’ depth was on full display, with seven players reaching double figures or making significant contributions. “It’s about playing together and executing our offense,” said Lions coach, David Sterling. “Tonight, we saw that synergy. Freya’s shooting was infectious, but it was a team effort.”
Despite a late push from the Aviators, capped by Yasmine Sharif’s 12 points and nine rebounds, the Lions’ lead proved insurmountable. London’s ability to dominate the rebounding battle, securing 53 boards to Atlanta’s 39, also played a significant role in controlling the game’s tempo and limiting second-chance opportunities for the visitors.
