VANCOUVER, BC – The Vancouver Orcas unleashed a relentless offensive surge in the second half, outscoring the Toronto Titans 58-37 to secure a commanding 100-85 victory on their home court. After a tightly contested first half, the Orcas found their rhythm, showcasing exceptional ball movement and clutch shooting to pull away and solidify their position in the Pro League standings.
The game hung in the balance through the first two quarters, with neither team able to establish a significant advantage. Aisha Khan and Lena Eriksson provided sparks for the Titans, trading baskets with the Orcas’ Griffin Price and Cleo Vargas. However, as the third quarter commenced, Vancouver’s depth began to assert itself. A flurry of three-pointers, including a crucial shot from Griffin Price, ignited the crowd and propelled the Orcas into a double-digit lead.
“We knew they had firepower, but we also knew our strength was in our collective effort,” said Orcas Head Coach David Miller. “We focused on playing our game, trusting each other, and executing down the stretch. I’m incredibly proud of how the guys responded.”
The Orcas continued to build on their momentum, with multiple players contributing significantly. Luna Henderson anchored the paint, grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds, while Santiago Castillo orchestrated the offense with a team-leading 5 assists. Lena Petrov was a defensive menace, registering 2 steals and stifling the Titans’ perimeter attack.
For the Titans, Ronan Schmidt put forth a Herculean effort on the boards, pulling down 15 rebounds to go with his 11 points. Star guard Lena Eriksson led all scorers with 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Orcas’ balanced scoring attack.
“We started strong, but we let them dictate the tempo in the second half,” Schmidt admitted. “We need to be better for 48 minutes. They just outplayed us tonight.”
