Lions Roar in the Bay: London Downs Fog 126-102 in Offensive Showcase
Lions Unleash Offensive Fury, Dominate Fog on the Road
SAN FRANCISCO – The London Lions delivered a commanding offensive performance on Tuesday night, outlasting the San Francisco Fog 126-102 in a high-scoring affair at the Bayfront Arena. The Lions’ blistering shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, proved too much for the Fog to handle as they secured a crucial road victory in World Pro League Season 2.
The game started at a breakneck pace, with both teams trading baskets early. However, the Lions began to find their rhythm midway through the first quarter, with a barrage of three-pointers and sharp ball movement opening up a significant lead. Chloe Beaumont was instrumental in this surge, hitting key shots and forcing turnovers that led to fast-break opportunities.
The Fog struggled to contain the Lions’ perimeter attack, as Freya Lund and Leo O’Connell also found their range. While San Francisco fought back, highlighted by strong rebounding from Patricio Rivera and Anya Morozova, and a double-double from Chen Wei, they couldn’t close the growing deficit. The Lions consistently answered every Fog run, showcasing their depth and offensive firepower.
“We knew we had to come out with energy and execute our game plan,” said Lions coach Marcus Thorne after the game. “Tonight, our shooters were on fire, and our defense did a great job of creating opportunities. This is a big win for us.”
Chen Wei, who contributed six assists and five blocked shots for the Fog, acknowledged the Lions’ impressive offensive display. “They shot the lights out tonight, especially from three,” Wei stated. “We have to learn from this and adjust for our next game.”
Key performances for London included Beaumont’s 22 points, O’Connell’s 17 points and 9 rebounds, and Lund’s 17 points and 5 assists. For San Francisco, Rivera and Priya Singh led the scoring with 14 points each, while Morozova added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
